Jorge Patrón Le Doux

Mérida Yucatán , 1986

Jorge Patrón Ledoux, an artist from Yucatán, won the IX Joaquín Clausell Painting Biennial in 2011. He has also exhibited at the Juan Soriano Gallery in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and in Mérida at Galería Secreta, the José Martí Cultural Center, the In la Kech Gallery, the Visual Arts Center (CAV), and the Municipal Art Gallery.

Patrón uses cement, collage, and acrylic on canvas in a mixed-media technique that allows him to experiment with visual references to urban art, such as graffiti, stencils, painted or pasted advertisements, propaganda murals, advertising signs and brand logos, and figures from Mexican popular culture, from the famous masked wrestlers of lucha libre to the comedian Capulina and the Virgin of Guadalupe.
